Floral Fun with Komachin Middle School

Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of sharing the enchanting world of floral design with the bright minds at Komachin Middle School. Invited to teach a floral class for the 7th and 8th graders, we dove into the delightful realm of creating Christmas centerpieces that would adorn their family tables.

The palette for our creations was a festive symphony of Christmas greens, vibrant red carnations, and delicate white cushion mums. With these elements in hand, we embarked on an exploration of the art of designing a round centerpiece.

The class was an engaging blend of creativity and technique. We delved into the meticulous process of inserting stems, discussing the importance of angles and placements to achieve the desired aesthetic. Watching the students immerse themselves in this hands-on experience was truly inspiring. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn mirrored the blossoming beauty of their arrangements.

One of the key aspects we covered was the care and nurturing of these centerpieces. It's not just about creating something stunning; it's about ensuring its longevity. We emphasized the significance of daily maintenance, teaching the students how to care for the centerpiece's water, a crucial step in preserving its vitality.

But our exploration didn't stop there. We delved into the fascinating world of design styles. From classic and traditional to modern and avant-garde, we discussed how personal preferences can shape the aesthetic of floral arrangements. It was remarkable to witness the students discovering their unique design inclinations, each infused with their own creativity and flair.

Being with the students at Komachin Middle School and sharing insights about the floral industry was an incredibly fulfilling experience. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were truly heartwarming, and seeing their eyes light up while learning about floral design was priceless. I feel immensely grateful for the opportunity to inspire and educate these young minds about the beauty and intricacies of the floral world. It's moments like these that remind me why I'm so passionate about what I do. Here's to nurturing budding talents and fostering a love for the artistry behind flowers.

The experience at Komachin Middle School was not just about crafting centerpieces; it was about nurturing curiosity, fostering creativity, and sowing the seeds of appreciation for the artistry behind floral design. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of their journey into this beautiful world of blooms and creativity. Here's to a season filled with the warmth of handmade centerpieces and the joy of discovery!
